The pandemic has led many of us to rethink aspects of our lives. Whether that has been our job, our lifestyle or where we live. We had the time many of us have never had before, to sit down and work out where we are going and where we want to get to.
So in that regard, I was delighted to recently attend a Kickstarter event at West Suffolk College alongside the Department of Work and Pensions and Suffolk Chamber of Commerce. The event aimed to provide students with opportunities in an industry or business they might not have considered before. The scheme aims to create thousands of high-quality six-month work placements for young people aged 16 to 24 who are claiming Universal Credit and are at risk of long-term unemployment. It’s so vital that we harness the talent of young people as we rebuild from the pandemic, including those who have so far have been unable to find what they really want to do. The joint event highlighted employers from around the East of England to students to give them the chance to find their place in the world of work.
