Retail crime is an issue that is raised with me by local traders and businesses. It has a devastating affect on our local economy and I was pleased to meet with Police and Crime Commissioner Katy Bourne who leads on the issue at a briefing for MPs on what is being done to tackle this type of crime.

Locally we will now be having a second full-time officer for Bury St Edmunds as well as improved communications, and I know they will focus on working with businesses and traders on measures to deter and tackle crime. I am also pleased that going forward, rural communities in our area will no longer have to travel more than 5 miles to access a police surgery which will provide reassurance as they are to travel to all different locations in Suffolk.
