On 25th June, Jo Churchill MP met with 60 cancer charities in Parliament to discuss how cancer data can be used to improve services and results for patients and their families.

Mrs Churchill said: “I was delighted to meet with the Cancer Campaigning Group at the launch of their data resource “Cancer Data: Empowering you to act”. Using this invaluable resource, I have learned that there are 627 new cancer diagnoses per 100,000 people each year in the West Suffolk Clinical Commissioning Group area and that at 70% and 50% the one year and five year survival rates respectively are slightly better than the national average.

It’s access to data like this that makes sure we know exactly how we are doing and where we need to improve in Suffolk and I look forward to working with local organisations and charities to support my constituents afflicted by this awful disease.”
