I am delighted that this Spending Round is continuing to support people’s priorities. Investing in our schools, NHS, defence and hiring more police officers is what my constituents tell me they want. These ambitious plans will help ensure a fantastic education for every child, safer streets in their communities and better healthcare for those who need it.

There are 392,000 more people in work in our region than in 2010, with employment increasing the second fastest of all UK regions. This means more people and families with economic security.

We have a strong economy and the building blocks for social mobility. A working economy ensures we can support each other to fulfil our potential.

I informed the Prime Minister recently of my decision to stand down at the next election. It has been a privilege & honour to serve the people of Bury St Edmunds & Stowmarket. I wish my successor all the best in representing this most wonderful part of our United Kingdom.
