Now a month since the election, it is a privilege and an honour to have been returned as the Member of Parliament for Bury St Edmunds and to now be resuming my column here in the Bury Free Press!
On Monday 26th June, Jo Churchill MP met with Suffolk Chamber of Commerce, leading councillors and other key stakeholders of the 'No More A14 Delays' campaign to discuss the key objective of securing funding through the Roads Investment Strategy Phase 2.
Bury St Edmunds MP Jo Churchill has been appointed as Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS) to the Department of Health, having been re-elected to Parliament in June 2017. Mrs Churchill has been appointed as PPS to The Rt.
"Both Babergh and Mid Suffolk district councils face the challenge of not meeting their required five year land supply. In short, they are both failing to deliver enough homes and national planning rules are becoming more important than local ones.
On Friday 9th June, Jo Churchill was declared Member of Parliament for Bury St Edmunds, having won 36,794 votes and with a majority of 18,441.
Speaking on the announcement, Mrs Churchill thanked all the polling staff and those at the count.
It has been about a year since we voted on our future with the European Union. Now, with local elections next week and just forty days before the general election, it can certainly feel like we’ve spent more time discussing politics, than getting on with the job of it.
This week, Jo Churchill MP welcomed the new Litter Strategy – the first national strategy of its kind- which outlines tough new plans to tackle littering and litter louts.
Last Friday I chaired the first 2017 meeting of the No More A14 Delays in Suffolk campaign. Driven by Suffolk Chamber of Commerce it brought together councillors, local business leaders, representatives from Highways England, the Department of Transport and other key stakeholders.
